Purpose:
The facemask helps guide your upper jaw forward for a better bite and facial growth. Success depends on consistent, proper use.

1. Wearing Your Facemask

  • Wear 12–16 hours/day (including nighttime), no need to wear to school.

  • Mask should be securely attached to the two hooks from your expander with elastics.

  • Remove your facemask when eating

2. Attaching Elastics

  • Hook 1 elastics to each arm extending from the expander (total of 2 elastics)

  • Ensure elastics are straight, not twisted.

  • Replace elastics daily or as instructed.

3. Cleaning & Care

  • Wipe mask daily with soft cloth.

  • Do not submerge mask in water.

4. Comfort Tips

  • Mild pressure is normal at first.

  • Add additional padding or apply aquaphor to the skin if forehead and chin cups irritate skin.

  • Take breaks only if advised by your orthodontist

5. Safety

  • Avoid sports or rough activities while wearing.

  • Do not chew on mask or elastics.

  • Report pain, sores, or broken parts promptly.

6. Appointments & Progress

  • Attend all checkups.

  • Consistent mask wear is crucial—missing hours slows treatment.

  • Bring your facemask to all your appointments!

Tips & Troubleshooting:

  • On weekends or days you're at home, you can wear your facemask more for faster results.

  • Keep your mask and elastics ready by your bed and toothbrush at night to make wearing easier.

  • If the Facemask or expander components come loose or break, please notify the office.
